In the role of Elle, Lucie Jones is incredible. Elle`s journey is incredible. It`s a journey that starts on a whim, but follows an arc of incredible self-realization that can`t be respected. It`s a nice balancing act, but Jones manages to get the audience to applaud this cubicle. Amazing voices and just a knockout. It may not sound like it, but she is one of the greatest female musical theater roles ever written. It`s right up there and requires a performance of substance and Lucie Jones delivers in abundance! Based on the hit film of the same name, Legally Blonde the Musical follows the journey of the infamous Elle Woods, a fashion-conscious UCLA sorority who turned her life upside down when she was abandoned by her Warner boyfriend. To prove to Warner that she is more than just a blonde bimbo, she follows him to Harvard Law School, where she struggles to adapt. Douglas Mayo has a long-standing love affair with musical theatre. He has written several books on advertising and marketing for amateur theatre groups. He is developing a musical based on his original story concept. This legal blonde is as perfect as I could have wished. I saw the audience smiling and dancing to get out of the theater – me too! I look forward to a return visit of this entertaining musical in all areas. Oh my God, guys – don`t hesitate, book your tickets! She beats her ex in a class debate and discovers at the end of the law that she got an internship. David Barrett`s Emmett is silly, admirable and sexy at once. With the humor, voice and heart of this great character, it is a great performance that balances perfectly with the generosity of Jones` cubit. Like most of the characters in this musical, it would be easy to exaggerate this character and play it all for laughs, but there is a real heart in this performance.

No legal blonde is complete without the slimy machismo of Warner Huntington III and Liam Doyle does not disappoint. Urgh! One wonders what Laura Harrison`s wonderful Vivienne sees in him, whereas Ben Harlow`s UPS guy had this audience that wanted his own special delivery. Jones, originally from Pentyrch, made headlines when she appeared on The X Factor UK in 2009. She now represents Great Britain in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. She has a perfect voice for both acts of the musical. A few scattered traces of this original production remain in this new production, but to their credit, Williams and Street and the UK Productions design team, consisting of Jon Harris, Jason Bishop and David Shields, have gone to great lengths to give this production a fresh look and feel.
